Dear CSI Mississippi Members,
If you’ve spent more than a few minutes in construction, you know this: a project relies on its documents. When the specifications are clear and the drawings match, everyone feels more at ease. When they don’t, we’ve all experienced the fallout.
That’s why good specification writing is essential. It may not be glamorous, but it can make or break a job. Clear specifications reduce confusion, help prevent RFIs, and eliminate those “Wait, what did you mean by this?” moments that slow everything down.
Our industry isn’t getting any simpler. With new products, new codes, new delivery methods, and new technology, it can be challenging to keep up. This is where CSI excels. We are the ones who care about getting it right, and we support each other in staying sharp.
If you have thought about brushing up on the basics or filling in some knowledge gaps, the CDT certification is a great starting point. It’s not just for specifiers; it’s for anyone who wants to understand how the project delivery process operates.
This month, I encourage you to reach out to your fellow members. Ask that extra question. Coordinate that detail. Share a tip with someone who is still learning. If you’re ready for the next step, consider signing up for the CDT. It’s one of the best investments you can make in your career.

Golf Tournament
The 23rd annual Mississippi CSI Spring Golf Tournament is fast approaching. This tournament is always a great time, and we fully expect participation from CSI members and guests alike. The tournament will be held at The Country Club of Canton on May 14th. Let’s give a big shout-out to the folks at Sherwin-Williams because, for the 10th consecutive year, they have generously agreed to sponsor the post-tournament Crawfish Boil! The golf tournament committee members are working to ensure that this will be a fun and successful event for our chapter members, prospective members, and anyone else in the construction industry.
If you have played before, please sign up and continue to enjoy this great outing. If you have never played, this is a great opportunity to take your participation in the Mississippi CSI chapter to the next level. If you are already committed to play this year, please help us in recruiting more teams for this great event! Even if you aren’t able to make the tournament, there are still great ways for your company to be involved, as we are actively seeking Food and Beverage sponsorship and Hole Sponsorships for those willing and able to do so.
I encourage anyone reading this to do your part to help us make the 23rd Annual Mississippi CSI Spring Golf Tournament even bigger, better, and more fun than last year! - Treasurers Report: The report for February was reviewed and approved. Motion to approve as submitted was made by John Murray and seconded by Benjie Barham. All voted aye and motion passed.
