Monthly Meeting Info
This class examines how resilient roofing and wall assemblies contribute to durable, high-performance building envelopes that protect occupant health, safety, and welfare in response to increasing climate and environmental stressors. The course focuses on single-ply roofing membranes (TPO, PVC/KEE, EPDM) and architectural metal panel wall systems, emphasizing material science, attachment and securement strategies, testing standards, and critical detailing practices that influence envelope integrity and long-term building performance.
President's Report
CSI Mississippi Members,
As we officially enter summer in Mississippi, I am reminded on a daily basis that it is vacation season. I’m sure most professionals have felt the frustrations with this. Maybe it’s having to wait an extra week for a signature on a contract, or for a submittal review, or a quote from a supplier. It can seem like everyone you need to be in contact with just happened to take vacation that week.
Ironically, I am writing my first President’s Message on the verge of a week-long PTO. One of the thoughts that has been weighing on me recently is the value of a break and rest. The construction industry is fast-paced and continuous. It is hard to step away from the duties and responsibilities even for a week, without fearing something is going to go terribly wrong. However, it is exactly those moments we need to develop into better professionals. We need that time to reset our mind, our focus, and our vision, so that we can return refreshed.
The CSI Board of Directors recently conducted our yearly planning meeting, and this seemed a little bit similar. It was a time for us to reflect on the successes and shortcomings, to refocus our efforts for better execution, to receive a fresh vision from our directors and officers, and to return rejuvenated for another year of service. It is my hope that we can see this motivation extend to our membership. CSI is unique because all fields and professions within the construction industry are welcome, and we need all of our members showing up and representing our chapter, because you have value to bring to this organization. So if it has been a while since you have attended a meeting, please make an attempt to join us for our next chapter meeting or CCC.
